Service Technician - TX

FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN

About the Position:

We are looking for highly motivated problems solvers to help us manage complex  systems and work with our customers to maintain and troubleshoot highly technical, mission-critical systems.  Our target technicians enjoy the challenge of solving difficult problems and working with our engineers to suggest and implement solutions.  They also enjoy the challenge and rewards of managing high customer satisfaction and good customer relationships. Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine maintenance (i.e. filter change, DI/Carbon exchange, RO cleaning, EDI cleaning & sanitization) on water treatment systems at customer facilities
  • Maintains customer systems leak-free
  • Assists Installation Department staff in commissioning/startup of new, central water systems
  • Provides thorough documentation of all work, parts, and time in accordance with SOPs
  • Communicates regarding service contract issues
  • Maintains effective, trusted working relationship with customers
  • Follows customer contractor/visitor rules
  • Uses safe work practices while driving on the roads, in the shop, and at customer sites
  • Escalates reoccurring breakdown and system design issues
  • Maintains extraordinarily neat work areas, including vehicles, shop, and work sites
  • Performs other duties, as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in equipment service operations, preferably in customer-facing settings; high school diploma or GED equivalent, required
  • Must have strong mechanical skills; technical and electrical experience a plus; piping installation experience a plus
  • Ability to understand instrumentation and controls
  • Knowledge of proper use of hand and power tools
  • Manual dexterity is important
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, organized, energetic & capable of staying cool under pressure from multiple ongoing projects
  • Average computer skills (Internet Explorer, Word, Excel)

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

  • Majority of work is performed in industrial settings inside customer facilities
  • Regular "on call" rotation assignments
  • Significant local travel, plus average of 7 overnight stays per month
  • Must have and maintain a record of safe driving with no recent moving or driving violations
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
  • Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
  • Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.)
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. without physical restrictions
  • Frequent walking in a large production facility
  • Capable of bending, climbing, stooping, and standing for long periods of time on concrete
  • Must be able to safely perform all the duties of the job
  • Must be able to pass post-offer/pre-placement background screen and DOT Requirements, which include a drug screen and job-related physical abilities testing
