About the Position: 

In a Project Engineering position at Pureflow, you perform detailed process and mechanical design of high purity water systems.  You manage project schedules and ensure projects are completed on schedule and on budget. Your primary job responsibilities would include:

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering
  • 3+years of experience working in an engineering or technical role
  • Water treatment experience preferred but not required
  • Strong mechanical aptitude or interest (auto enthusiasts, welcome home!). Familiarity with mechanical components (pumps, valves, piping, nuts, bolts flanges etc)
  • Self-motivated, organized, positive attitude, team player, and capable of staying cool under pressure from multiple ongoing projects

Job Responsibilities:

Project Execution

  • Working with business developers, engineers or shop personnel, develop preliminary equipment design plans and cost estimates for new products or refurbished equipment projects
  • Convert preliminary proposals or project plans from sales team to detailed equipment designs
    • Create piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for different categories of water treatment equipment (reverse osmosis, UV, Electrodeionization, pumps, tanks, filters etc.)
    • Size and select necessary mechanical components including equipment (pumps, tanks, heat exchangers, UV units, etc), valves, instruments, pipe & fittings, etc.  Research & specify manufacturer, vendor and part numbers for these purchase parts
    • Generate detailed component lists and other input information to be used in generation of 3D equipment models
  • Work with CAD designers to produce detailed engineering drawings (general arrangements, frame fabrication and bill of materials), review and approve drawings for release to fabrication
  • Manage submittal of design documents to customers communicate and coordinate changes and approvals of design submittals
  • Specify and work with purchasing group to procure system components; equipment, valves, instruments, pipe, fittings etc. from a variety of vendors
  • Prepare and oversee project documentation, spec sheets, O&M manuals, and testing protocols, standard operating procedures etc.
  • Attend and support system start-ups, includes onsite operation, testing and troubleshooting of newly installed equipment, travel in this position is 7 overnights per month average
  • Generate and maintain project schedule and budget throughout the course of execution, utilizing MS Project scheduling software
  • Participate in high volume of written and verbal communication with multiple departments and customer representatives
  • Manage project change orders and change order logs to ensure scope deviations are correctly accounted for, priced and sold to customers
  • Take part in completed project review and evaluation, implement corrective actions to sales or applications processes to more accurately price and quote future projects

Sales Support

  • Conduct site meetings with customers and Pureflow sales team members to review customer requirements, facility information and water need in order to develop process designs, scope of work and proposals for new projects to support their facility
  • Collaborate with sales team to review customer RFQ (Request for Quotation) specifications and develop process engineering and design strategies to meet the applicable requirements
  • Prepare technical proposals using Microsoft Word and Salesforce software
  • Design system and size components; develop piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) including a number of different unit operations (Reverse Osmosis, Electrodeionization, Media/Activated Carbon Filtration, Ultraviolet (UV) Equipment, Water Softening, Degasification, Storage Tanks, Centrifugal Pumps, Ozonation, Chemical injection, Ultrafiltration)
  • Develop Cost Estimates for proposals using Microsoft excel based tools and templates
  • Assist sales team in preparation and, presentation of final project proposal
  • Conduct site reviews of equipment in facilities with Pureflow sales team in order to develop scope and proposal for system maintenance contracts
  • Create process flow diagrams (PFDs) piping and instrumentation diagrams (PIDs) to support the sales process
  • Support with sales strategy, generate technical brochures, presentations and any other supporting documents needed for new project opportunities

 

Working Conditions:  Graham, NC, Usual office environment and manufacturing area.  Local and out of state travel up to 25% (or 7 overnights per month) average
