Field Service Engineer - MD

Job description

The Field Service Engineer provides technical service and support on water purification equipment with the objectives of minimizing customer downtime, nurturing successful business relationships and generating revenue opportunities for Pureflow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Cost Estimate for proposals related to system troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Prepare and issue maintenance quotes and account renewals
  • Set up and maintain customer contracts, jobs and services
  • Handle customer calls and coordinate service schedule with service technicians
  • Perform data analysis and trending of cloud-based, time-series performance data using Microsoft Excel
  • Write thorough technical reports detailing operating trends and system improvement recommendations
  • Serve as a project manager for maintenance and troubleshooting projects
  • Prepare and oversee service project documentation, including spec sheets, O&M manuals, and validation documents, as applicable
  • Oversee a variety of preventative and emergency maintenance/repairs including but not limited to the following:
  • Install expendables in different types of water treatment components (Cartridge filters, Ultraviolet (UV systems), reverse osmosis membranes etc.)
  • Removal and reloading of media from vessels for a number of different water treatment medias (activated Carbon, sand, softening resin)
  • Reverse Osmosis and Electrodeionization (EDI) system cleaning & sanitizations
  • Calibrations of pressure, flow, conductivity instrumentation
  • Troubleshooting & repair of malfunctioning water treatment systems
  • Provide thorough documentation of all work, parts, and time in accordance with both Pureflow and customer specific standard operating procedures
  • Communicate effectively with customers, service and engineering team members regarding service contract issues, breakdowns or system design issues

Job Requirements:

Required:

  • Associates or Bachelors' degree in mechanical, electrical or engineering field
  • Comfort with verbal and telephone communication, with internal and external customers
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, organized, energetic & capable of staying cool under pressure from multiple ongoing projects
  • Fluent computer & technology skills (Microsoft Office suite, internet browsing, smart phone & tablet familiarity)

Preferred:

  • 3+ years of mechanical or electrical industry experience
  • Instrumentation, controls or electrical experience/aptitude
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, piping & instrumentation drawings, or electrical diagrams
  • Knowledge of proper use of hand and power tools
  • Capable of obtaining commercial driver's license (CDL) within 6 months of hire
  • Strong manual dexterity and mechanical skills

Travel:

  • 75% Local and out of state travel
  • Ability to travel and provide service in continental United states (primarily southeast states, TX, CA)
  • Frequent overnight travel, often with short notice, including drive times to site (up to 6 hrs)
  • Hold a current valid US driver's license and good driving record over last three years is required

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

  • Majority of work is performed in industrial settings inside customer manufacturing facilities
  • Regular "on call" rotation assignments
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
  • Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.)
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. without physical restrictions
  • Frequent walking in a large production facility
  • Capable of bending, climbing, stooping, and standing for long periods of time on concrete
  • Must be able to safely perform all the duties of the job
  • Must be able to pass a post-offer/pre-placement drug screen, background check, and job-related physical abilities test
