About the Position:

In the Controls Technician role, you will perform controls and electrical service, assist the installation department, and troubleshoot electronic issues. If you are humble and hungry, have a strong commitment to integrity, and enjoy working in a team environment, you could be an ideal candidate. In this position, you will:

 

  • Perform controls/electrical service of water treatment equipment and systems both in the shop, as well as in the field at client sites.
    • Ensure safe and neat/orderly electrical panel construction (e.g., proper use of hand tools; accurately labeled, terminated and bundled wires; etc.)
    • Interpret electrical schematic and perform layout of electrical control panel
    • Inspect and test electrical control panels to ensure compliance of schematics
    • Troubleshoot problems in the control systems at customer sites
    • Service and support of UV equipment and auxiliary equipment such as ozone generators, oxygen generators, and instrumentation for high purity water systems equipment
    • Calibrate associated instrumentation
    • Diagnose electrical/electronic problems, replace or repair parts, detect and replace defective control modules, test units for proper function, and make final adjustments
    • Document wiring diagrams to record changes
    • Troubleshoot controls systems.
    • Load and modify new and existing control packages
  • Perform routine maintenance (i.e. filter change, DI/Carbon exchange, RO cleaning, EDI cleaning & sanitization) on water treatment systems at customer facilities
  • Assist Installation Department staff in commissioning and start-up of new, central water systems
  • Liaise with service team to coordinate trouble call responses, ensuring minimum disruption to customer operations
  • Provide thorough documentation of all work, parts, and time in accordance with SOPs
  • Communicate with Service Manager regarding service contract issues
  • Develop effective, trusted working relationship with all customers, maximizing ongoing communications
  • Follow all customer contractor/visitor rules
  • Use safe work practices driving, in the shop, and at customer sites
  • Maintain customer systems leak-free
  • Escalate re-occurring breakdown and system design issues to the Service Manager
  • Maintain extraordinarily neat work areas, including vehicles, shop, and work sites
  • Serve as primary backup for electrical emergency calls and electrical service on accounts

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or Industrial System Technology or 3 years of equivalent experience
  • Ability to read, understand & interpret electrical schematics, electrical component operating manuals and manufacturers' specification sheets
  • Working knowledge of NEC standards for electrically operated automation/controls equipment, including but not limited to motors, controllers, fuses, circuit breakers, overloads, relays, lights, switches & PLCs
  • Working knowledge of safe electrical practices
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred

 

Working Conditions: 

  • Work is performed at the Florida branch under usual shop conditions and in industrial settings inside customer facilities
  • Significant local travel and an average of 6 overnight stays per month over a year period
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without physical restrictions
  • Regular "on call" assignments
